Mashreq, a global financial institution, has appointed Tushar Vikram as its new country head and CEO for India, starting June 2024. In his new role, Vikram will spearhead the Bank’s operations in India, driving its strategic direction and growth in the country.

Vikram is a seasoned business banker with a career spanning three decades. With a robust background in investment banking, corporate finance and strategic financial management, he brings a wealth of expertise in navigating complex financial landscapes and driving sustainable growth strategies.

Prior to HDFC, Vikram spent 27 years with Citibank in various roles, covering commercial bank, investment and structured finance, digitisation, credit processes and risk management.

Welcoming Vikram and commenting on the appointment, Tarek El Nahas, group head-international banking, Mashreq, said, “His track record of successfully managing large-scale financial portfolios and deep experience in banking underscores his capability to effectively steer Mashreq’s growth and further strengthen our position as a key player in the Indian market.”

According to Vikram, this new role “marks an exciting new phase in my career, and I am eager to contribute to Mashreq’s impressive legacy as a challenger bank.”

Vikram looks forward to “working with the talented team at Mashreq, leveraging the bank’s global network to deliver innovative financial solutions.” He sees this opportunity as a valuable one to capitalise on his experience and help the bank delivering truly world-class banking experiences for its clients.

Vikram holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Delhi University and is a qualified chartered accountant.
