    Volvo’s Amit Sharma joins Gokaldas Exports as CHRO

    Amit Sharma, former vice president and head-HR, Volvo Group, India, has joined Gokaldas Exports as its new chief human resources officer. In this new role, Sharma wil drive the business across the globe for Gokaldas Exports and the group companies. He will also play a pivotal role in shaping and streamlining the HR function and ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.

    In his previous role at Volvo, Sharma was pivotal in providing strategic HR leadership to the Volvo Group in India across legal entities, that is, Volvo Group India, Volvo CE India and Volvo Financial Services India comprising India Businesses (trucks, buses, construction equipment, engines, financial services), manufacturing operations (2 locations), GCCs (engineering, IT, purchasing & accounting services). He was associated with the company for over four years, starting 2019-2023.

    Sharma has also served as a board member at Volvo Financial Services for over two years, from 2021 to 2023.
    With a career spanning three decades, Sharma has held many leadership positions at big brands. Some renowned names include Indian Oil Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Phillips and TE Connectivity.

    Sharma started his career with Indian Oil in the year 1999. He joined as its personnel and administration officer and handled employee engagement, SAP implementation, time office, canteen, transportation and statutory compliances for the refinery. In the year 2003, he was promoted to senior HRD officer at the company’s largest refinery site at Baroda.

    In 2006, he moved to Johnson & Johnson as its plant HR manager, based in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. In the year 2009, he held the role of senior human resources business partner and lead the quality operations with some other business functions of Johnson & Johnson Medical.

    In the year 2010, he moved to Phillips and held many senior HR positions within the company before moving to TE Connectivity in the year 2016.

    He has also worked as a management trainee with companies such as Bank of America and Ballarpur Industries in the initial phase of his career.

    An alumnus of University Business School, Panjab University, Sharma holds a BE from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology.
