The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a three per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state employees and pensioners. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the announcement, offering relief to more than 7 lakh employees and over 3 lakh pensioners across the state.

With this revision, the dearness allowance will rise to 58 per cent. The enhanced rate will be applicable from April, and the revised amount will be reflected in April salaries, which are scheduled to be disbursed in May.

The monthly financial impact will vary depending on grade and pay scale. Officials estimate that the increase in take-home salary or pension will range between Rs 500 and Rs 4,300 per month. For First Class employees, the additional monthly benefit is expected to fall between Rs 2,397 and Rs 4,230. Second Class employees may see an increase ranging from Rs 1,683 to Rs 2,019. Third Class staff are likely to receive Rs 585 to Rs 1,473 more per month, while Fourth Class employees may benefit by Rs 465 to Rs 556.

In a separate administrative move, treasury officers under the Finance and Accounts Department have been granted permission to hire vehicles on a rental basis.

Meanwhile, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has retained the interest rate on provident fund deposits at 8.25 per cent for the financial year 2025–26. The decision impacts nearly 7 crore account holders nationwide and marks the second consecutive year that the rate has remained unchanged.
