Maumita Sarkar has joined BASF as HR head – Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad, starting in June 2026. With close to 20 years in human resources, she will now lead people strategy for BASF’s digital transformation and innovation agenda. BASF is the world’s largest chemical company, making materials and ingredients used in industries from automotive and agriculture to construction and consumer goods.

Sarkar’s career started in technology as a programmer analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions between 2005 and 2007, supporting BFSI clients. She moved into HR with GATI-KWE in 2009 as an assistant manager HR, where she managed learning and development across India and drove promotions through assessment and development centres for nearly two years. In 2011, she joined Wipro Technologies and spent over three years as an assistant manager human resource, partnering with business on performance, compensation and career growth for around 3000 employees globally.

From 2014 to 2017, she was the human resource business partner at Tektronix, Danaher Corporation, setting up an R&D software centre in Bangalore and later handling the 2016 Danaher-Fortive spin-off in India. She received a Global CXX Award and an Inspire-Gold Award for leading the transition. She then spent over five years with GE, first as the HR manager at GE HealthCare from 2017 to 2019, managing GE Bangladesh, and then as senior HR manager at GE Renewable Energy until 2022, driving culture transformation at the technology centre, India.

Sarkar joined Kimberly-Clark in 2022 and held four HR leadership roles in four years, culminating as HR Leader for APAC, GCC and international markets until June 2026. Her work has focused on digital technology organisations, succession planning, employee engagement, and leadership development across APAC.

Maumita Sarkar is very excited to take on this role, which brings together two of her deeply passionate areas: people and digital transformation, and she is looking forward to enabling talent, shaping culture and supporting innovation in this dynamic technology ecosystem.

We at HRKatha wish her the best as she takes on this new responsibility!
