Qantas Airways is undergoing a fresh round of leadership restructuring as Catriona Larritt, the company’s chief customer and digital officer, prepares to step down by the end of December. The internal development comes just months after the airline suffered one of Australia’s largest cyber breaches, which exposed sensitive data of over a million customers.
Larritt, who has been with Qantas since 2015, previously held key roles across Jetstar and Freight before assuming her current position in September 2023. Her portfolio included customer experience, brand, marketing, and technology — areas now at the centre of the airline’s renewed focus on rebuilding trust and security.
With Larritt’s exit, Qantas has announced a reshuffling of responsibilities among its senior leadership team. Danielle Keighery, corporate affairs chief, will take charge of brand and marketing, supported by chief marketing officer Petra Perry and her team as the airline works to restore its brand reputation.
In parallel, Andrew Monaghan, chief risk officer will now oversee cybersecurity, integrating it more closely with the group’s risk framework. Matt Biber, chief information security officer and his team will report directly to Monaghan to enhance governance and strengthen digital defences.
The transition marks another phase of Qantas’ ongoing recovery under CEO Vanessa Hudson, who has been steering the airline through a period of reputational and operational challenges. The leadership changes reflect a strategic push to reinforce accountability, improve customer trust, and tighten cybersecurity oversight in the wake of recent crises.
