Tata Group is all set to provide employment to at least five lakh people in the manufacturing space. These jobs will be created over the next five years, thanks to the Group’s investments in new projects and factories that will manufacture electric vehicles, semiconductors, batteries, solar equipment, hardware and other new-age products.
This news was shared by N Chandrasekaran, chairman, Tata Sons in his New Year message to the workforce.
Jobs will also be created across other sectors such as hospitality, airlines, retail and tech services.
The Group is already constructing seven new manufacturing plants focusing on semiconductors, in Gujarat and Assam. A battery-cell manufacturing facility is also coming up in Sanand, Gujarat and Somerset, UK. Additionally, electronics-assembly facilities are emerging in Karnataka, and an automotive plant in Tamil Nadu.
Solar module production has already begun at a facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, while Vadodara, Gujarat now has a C295 final assembly line.
It is hoped that these Tata facilities, along with the opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI) and the manufacturing sector will offer a source of direct and indirect employment to the youth across the country.
Chandrasekaran’s message drew attention to the fact that technological advancements are not only creating more job opportunities but also leading to scientific revolutions that are enhancing the well being of human beings.
