Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has taken disciplinary action following serious allegations at its Nashik facility. The company confirmed that multiple employees have been suspended as an internal inquiry and a police investigation continue.
The development follows complaints filed by eight women employees who accused certain senior colleagues of sexual harassment, mental distress, and coercive behaviour. The allegations also include claims of forced religious conversion, prompting swift intervention by local authorities.
In response, the police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) earlier this week to examine the matter in detail. The investigation has already led to the arrest of seven individuals, including a human resources manager associated with the office. Authorities are currently gathering evidence and recording statements as part of the ongoing probe.
TCS stated that it acted immediately after becoming aware of the situation. The company reiterated its longstanding stance of maintaining a strict zero-tolerance approach towards any form of harassment or coercion in the workplace. It emphasised that employee safety and well-being remain a top priority across its operations.
The suspended employees will remain off duty until the inquiry reaches a conclusion. The company has also indicated that further action will depend on the findings of both its internal processes and the law-enforcement investigation.
The company added that it is extending full cooperation to the authorities and is committed to ensuring due process is followed. The case has raised broader concerns about workplace safety and grievance- redressal mechanisms within large organisations.
