The Joint Action Committee (JAC), representing employees and pensioners in Telangana, has raised concerns over continued delays in the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) process. The group has made it clear that any further extension of the commission’s timeline will not be acceptable, as uncertainty continues to affect a large section of the workforce.
The PRC, set up more than two years ago, is yet to submit its final report. This delay has held up the rollout of revised pay scales for lakhs of government employees and pensioners. As a result, frustration is growing among those awaiting salary revisions, arrears, and long-pending dues.
Employee representatives have pointed to multiple unresolved issues, including pending Dearness Allowance instalments and a significant backlog of payments. These delays, they say, are adding to financial stress and lowering morale across departments.
The Commission was initially expected to complete its recommendations within a fixed timeline, but the process has extended well beyond that schedule. This has created a prolonged state of uncertainty, with no clear indication of when the revised pay structure will be implemented.
The JAC is set to meet on 7 April to decide its next course of action. There is increasing pressure from employees and pensioners on union leaders to push for faster resolution. Among the key demands is a substantial salary fitment, which, if approved, could have a notable financial impact.
With over 7.5 lakh individuals expected to benefit, the outcome of the PRC process remains crucial for both employees and the state’s fiscal planning.
