Cornerstone OnDemand, the workforce agility solutions company, has appointed Guna Jayaraman as chief artificial intelligence officer (CAIO). He moves from Amazon where he spent over 13 years, with his last designation being vice president, people tech.

Jayaraman, who holds a BE in Electronics and Communication from Anna University, Chennai, went on to obtain a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Kansas in 2006.

He began his professional journey as a software engineer with Cisco, in November of 2006. Two years later, he moved to Palm, as engineering leader-WebOS for over three and a half years. There, he drove performance optimisation and quality assurance (QA) for the first ever WebOS smartphone devices.

His long association with Amazon began in April of 2012, when he joined as software development manager, Amazon Fire TV, working out of San Francisco Bay Area.

He then moved to Toronto, Canada, in 2013, as software-development manager, Amazon Fulfilment. Less than two years into this role he was elevated to senior manager, software development, customer service. Three years later he became director of software development, working out of Greater Seattle Area. By April of 2024, he had reached the position of vice president, people tech, Amazon.

Now, as chief AI officer at Cornerstone, he will ensure that the company continues to create people solutions that help organisations overcome skills shortages, AI adoption challenges, and unlock human potential for today’s evolving marketplace. Guna Jayaraman is keen “to build on Cornerstone’s existing AI innovation and continue to help enterprises operationalise AI at scale securely, responsibly and with measurable impact.”
