Havells India, the fast-moving electrical goods (FMEG) company, has appointed Dipesh Shah as chief technology officer (CTO) and president, Havells Centre for Research & Innovation (CRI), India. This is part of Havells’ attempt to accelerate its R&D investments and reinforce its position as a consumer-centric, technology-driven brand with indigenous technology from India for the world.

An engineering graduate (electronics and communications), Shah also holds a degree in software enterprise management from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

He was associated with Samsung R&D Institute of India for over three decades. Having joined as a humble software engineer in 1994, he climbed up the ranks to become head of the organisation, which is Samsung’s largest software R&D centre outside Korea. From June of 2017 to January of 2022, he served as the corporate vice president and managing director. From January 2022 to February of 2025, he was the corporate executive vice president and managing director, working out of Bengaluru. From 2022 onwards he also led the India consumer experience and biz strategy for Samsung India.

Armed with almost 32 years of experience in embedded system software, wireless communications, and on-device artificial intelligence (AI), Dipesh Shah, brings a wealth of expertise in developing smart home solutions and AI-driven consumer products. His leadership in software engineering and product innovation has played a pivotal role in shaping the Make for India initiative.

In his new assignment at Havells, Shah will lead efforts to attract India’s best engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation and end-to-end realisation of technologies into products. Havells’ CRI centres in Bengaluru and Noida are at the forefront of cutting-edge product development, combining expertise in hardware, software, AI, power electronics, industrial engineering and design. The company is focused on developing high-performance, smart and sustainable solutions tailored to enhance the well-being of consumers in India and beyond. The R&D teams will work following the philosophy of ‘Global Quality with Local Insights’.

Shah aims to “accelerate our journey in building intelligent, consumer-focused solutions that enhance daily life and well being.”

HRKatha wishes Dipesh Shah success in contributing to Havells’ commitment to delivering next-generation consumer experiences by integrating AI, IoT, and intelligent automation into its product ecosystem.

I’m writing to express my frustration regarding the ongoing issue with the lights in my house. Despite my repeated requests, the problem remains unresolved. Furthermore, I was disappointed to find that an operator recently submitted a report claiming that the issue was resolved, when in fact, no solution was provided.

I urge you to take immediate and relevant action to address this issue. I would appreciate it if you could escalate this matter and ensure that a competent technician is assigned to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

I look forward to a prompt resolution and a higher level of service quality
