Saibal Chandra Banerjee has joined Magson Retail & Distribution as CEO. He moves from Wellness Forever Medicare where his last-held designation was that of senior vice president-merchandising.
A Science graduate from the University of Calcutta, Banerjee has also completed an MBM in marketing from the same institution.
Having begun his professional journey as an area sales supervisor with Reckitt Benckiser, in 1999, Banerjee moved to Balsara Home Products as area sales manager two years later. In 2004 he joined Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting in a similar role for a two-year stint.
From 2006 to 2007 he was with Dabur India as regional sales manager. A year and a half later he moved to Watanmal Group, as national sales manager, working out of Ghana.
July of 2008 saw him taking up the role of business manager at Spencer’s Retail, based out of Haryana.Six months into this role, he was elevated to zonal merchandising head-East. This elevation saw him relocating to Kolkata for a year and a half before he was promoted again, to deputy general manager, processed food and beverages. Two years later came another promotion that made him additional general manager, processed food, beverages & alliances. For the next four years he monitored a team of five category buying managers and three category merchandising managers at corporate level and 12 regional category managers. By 2015 Banerjee was elevated to additional general manager & head-merchandising and analytics. In this role, Led a team of four zonal merchandising heads and drove topline, bottomline and execution for different regions.
After nine years with Spencer’s, Sibal Chandra Banerjee moved to Kathmandu Farmers Market as CEO.
Foodhall India appointed him head-FMCG, staples & dairy frozen, in 2018. Within a year he was promoted to chief merchandising officer, based out of Mumbai.
Banerjee’s next stop was Wellness Forever Medicare, where he joined as vice president-merchandising, in October of 2021. Seven months later, he found himself promoted to VP-merchandising and supply chain. Another elevation in 2022 put him in the chair of senior vice president-merchandising.
His perfection in analysing situations and in formulating potential solutions quickly is definitely going to be an asset to Magson Retail & Distribution, the retail chain.
