    RIL finds new group president-people & talent in Ira Bindra

    Bindra was earlier VP & head of HR, global regions, Medtronic, based out of the US

    Reliance Industries (RIL) has appointed Ira Bindra as group president-people and talent. Backed by over two decades of experience, Bindra will lead and drive transformation across RIL for people, culture, and leadership, working with the chairman, directors and the executive committee, in partnership with RIL’s business leadership and HR teams.

    An alumna of Lady Shri Ram College for Women and Maastricht School of Management, Ira Bindra began her professional journey with GE Capital, as HR manager, in 1999. Almost five years into this role, she became executive and talent development leader-GE India. By 2005, she was elevated to VP/CHRO, GE India and South Asia.

    Her association with GE continued with her appointment as VP/global HR leader-IT, process excellence and simplification, GE Healthcare. This role saw Bindra working out of the US for over five years. Then came a promotion in 2014, which made her VP/global HR leader, advanced X-ray technologies, GE Healthcare.

    2016 to 2019 saw Bindra essaying the role of VP/global leader-commercial, for GE Oil & Gas, based out of Houston, Texas.

    Two years later, she moved from GE to take up the position of VP & head of HR, Americas region, Medtronic, a $12B organisation with 5,000 employees across the US, Canada and Latin America. Over four years into this role, she was elevated to president (interim)-Medtronic Foundation, non-profit organisation, focused on improving health and supporting communities by providing disaster relief and STEM programmes driven by engaging employees and external partners. May of 2022 saw her playing VP and head of HR, Cardiovascular Portfolio at Medtronic. Six months later, she was put in the position of director-Medtronic Foundation Board of the medical devices company. By the time she moved on from Medtronic, in September 2024, Ira Bindra had reached the position of VP and head of HR-global regions.
