N Chandrasekaran has given up his position as director and chairman of Tata Chemicals on 29 May, 2025, as per the information given by the company to the exchanges through a filing. His resignation, based on an assessment of his existing and future commitments, has been accepted by the Board of Directors of the company. The Board has picked S. Padmanabhan, who is already a director, to fill Chandrasekaran’s shoes as the new chairman of Tata Chemicals, starting today, that is, 30 May, 2025.
Chandrasekaran has been chairman of the Tata Group since 2017. He has also been co-chairman India US CEO Forum for over three years now. Additionally, he serves as the governor, at The New York Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of the International Advisory Council of Singapore’s Economic Development Board. The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow has had him as chairman since 2018.
Padmanabhan has been chairman of the Governing Council of Business Excellence, Tata Sons, since 2014. From 2008 to 2014, he was executive director, Tata Power. Before that he was executive director, Tata Consultancy Services, from May 1982 to February of 2008.
Additionally, Modan Saha, who is heading various initiatives at Tata Sons, has been appointed as an additional director (non-executive, non-independent) by the board with effect from 28 May, 2025, as recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
