Not one to be left behind in the artificial intelligence (AI) race, Infosys is preparing to hire freshers with knowledge of AI. It will also upskill its existing employees to ensure it stays ahead of competition.
As per a ToI report, Salil Parekh, CEO, Infosys, has revelaed that the company has managed to impart AI training and digital skills to almost 2.75 lakh employees. Why? The tech major is keen to ensure that its workforce is equipped to work on and with emerging technologies.
And now, the company is gearing to hire 20,000 freshers this fiscal. It has already onboarded at least 17,000 fresh graduates in Q1 of this financial year. The focus of this hiring spree will be on AI.
According to Parekh, Infosys’ experience with embracing AI has been very positive. He revealed to ToI that there has been an increase in productivity in the range of five to 15 per cent. In customer service and other similar areas based on knowledge, the productivity has improved manifold.
However, Infosys also admits that human expertise will never lose demand because most complex processes, even if automated will need to be overseen and supervised by skilled professionals. A perfect example of this, according to Parekh, is Infosys’ banking platform, which uses a mix of automation and human intervention. Ina significant 20 per cent increase in productivity.
