The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated the process of allocating employees across its 28 reorganised districts following approval from the President of India for the district reorganisation. The move is aimed at strengthening administrative functioning in the newly-created districts, many of which have been operating with temporary staffing arrangements since their formation. The state first reorganised its administrative map in April 2022 by creating 13 new districts, increasing the total from 13 to 26. British American Tobacco (BAT), the maker of Lucky Strike and Dunhill, has announced plans to reduce its workforce by about 20 per cent as part of a major cost-cutting programme.
