From April to August, the economy lost about 21 million salaried employees. As per the reports of the previous month, the recovery process had left out the formal sector and salaried jobs once lost were harder to get back. Around 4,800 employees of Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) were on a two day strike to protest against the government’s decision to privatise and the management’s actions to hasten the privatisation of the entity.
