Tilting Point, a global mobile games publisher, has announced a significant reduction in its workforce, with plans to lay off 20 per cent of its employees. This decision, made in response to challenging market conditions, aims to ensure the company can continue to operate effectively.
The company’s leadership cited the tough market environment as a major factor influencing this decision. The team further indicated that despite their efforts to sustain the business, it has become necessary to make these cuts to maintain the company’s health.
The layoffs will impact various parts of the organisation.
In response to the layoffs, the company has committed to supporting affected employees by assisting them in finding new job opportunities and establishing a Tilting Point alumni network to facilitate referrals and support.
Founded in 2012, Tilting Point has published over 150 mobile games, including popular titles such as Star Trek:
Legends, Star Trek: Timelines, Leo’s Fortune, and SpongeBob Adventures: In a Jam.
Earlier this year, the company already reduced its workforce by about 14 per cent, citing the need to adapt to changing market conditions. This previous round of layoffs followed a series of acquisitions, as the company had been expanding its portfolio through investments in studios such as Disruptor Beam, Loop Games and AN Games. Despite raising $235 million in 2021 to pursue further acquisitions and expand operations, Tilting Point is now undergoing substantial downsizing.
