Domino’s has unveiled an ambitious plan to hire 5,000 new employees across the UK and Ireland in the coming months. This move aims to bolster its workforce in preparation for its peak trading period.

The company is specifically seeking to fill roles for delivery drivers, in-store team members and pizza makers. The recruitment push comes as the pizza giant, which already employs 35,000 people across 1,344 locations, anticipates heightened demand. This increase is expected towards the end of the year, which is known to be its busiest time.

This hiring initiative follows a challenging first half of 2024 for Domino’s, which saw a drop in orders due to what executives described as a “slow start” to the year. However, the company has recently experienced a resurgence in customer confidence, and August marked a turning point, with stronger sales driven by a combination of factors.

To meet the anticipated rise in demand, Domino’s plans to expand its team of ‘Dominoids’, the company’s term for its employees, who play a pivotal role in its day-to-day operations. The company views its growing workforce as essential to maintaining its leadership position in the competitive pizza market. Additionally, the new hires will be critical for smooth operations during the busy festive period and beyond, maintaining its competitive edge in the fast-paced world of pizza delivery.

The company’s recruitment drive is also part of a broader strategy to sustain its growth trajectory, which includes the opening of new stores. Domino’s added approximately 60 new locations to its portfolio last year, and it is on track to surpass that figure in 2024, with plans to launch 70 new sites by the end of the financial year. The expansion is expected to further cement the company’s footprint across the UK and Ireland, while also providing additional opportunities for employment and growth within the organisation.
