Employees working in Electronics City can now enjoy a range of exclusive travel and cashback benefits with the launch of NCMC-compliant Orbit Wallet RuPay prepaid cards, designed specifically for ELCIA, short for Electronics City Industries Association member companies.

The initiative — launched jointly by ELCIA, Toyota Mobility Foundation, and WRI India, with support from BMRCL and BMTC under the Station Access and Mobility Programme (STAMP) — is focused on making daily commutes smoother, cheaper, and more sustainable for employees.

As part of the first rollout, 250 employees are eligible to receive cards preloaded with Rs 750, along with an additional Rs 750 cashback based on their Metro usage. The more employees use the Metro, the more they save. For instance, an employee commuting between Electronics City and Jayanagar would pay an effective fare of just Rs 40–Rs 42.50 per trip after applying Metro discounts and Orbit Wallet cashback offers.

The card goes beyond Metro travel — employees can also use it for shopping and everyday payments, making it a multi-purpose financial and commuting tool.

A major highlight of the programme is its employee-centric approach to sustainability. Through Orbit Wallet, corporates can now deposit travel reimbursements directly for employees who choose public transport, offering the same financial benefits traditionally given for fuel or parking. This not only rewards greener commuting habits but also helps reduce the financial burden of daily travel.

Additional employee perks under the Orbit Wallet initiative include discounts on Metro fares — 10 per cent for non-peak travel and 5 per cent during peak hours — along with cashback rewards that increase with the frequency of travel. The NCMC-compliant card also offers seamless tap-to-pay convenience across multiple platforms, including Metro, retail, and online transactions.

By promoting a cashless, eco-friendly commute experience, the programme is expected to serve as a scalable model for other corporate clusters across Bengaluru.
