Nestlé India launches pet-friendly policy at work

The initiative reflects Nestlé India’s broader commitment to creating a compassionate and inclusive work environment

Nestlé India has introduced a new policy aimed at supporting employees who welcome a pet into their families. The initiative combines employee wellbeing with company culture, offering both practical support and time off for new pet parents.

As part of the policy, employees adopting a puppy or kitten will receive a starter kit with premium pet food from Purina Petcare. The package includes Supercoat and Pro Plan products for puppies, and Friskies and Felix for kittens. This ensures that new pet parents have access to quality nutrition right from the start.

In addition to the starter kit, the company has introduced a unique benefit: two days of ‘paw-ternity leave’. This allows employees to take time off to settle their new pets into their homes, recognising the emotional and logistical effort that comes with welcoming a new animal companion.

The initiative reflects Nestlé India’s broader commitment to creating a compassionate and inclusive work environment. By acknowledging the role pets play in employees’ lives, the company is promoting a workplace culture that values empathy and emotional connection.

This move also aligns with Nestlé’s global vision of supporting holistic employee wellbeing. It adds a personal dimension to employee care, extending support beyond traditional benefits to embrace lifestyle and emotional needs.

With this new policy, Nestlé India is not only encouraging responsible pet ownership but also setting a progressive example of how workplaces can adapt to reflect the evolving priorities of their workforce. Clearly the future of work is more focused on emotional wellness and flexibility, and Nestle intends to not leave out pet parents from its range of employee benefits.
