Pooja Joshi has been elevated to senior director, HRBP, Qualcomm. As she says in her social-media post, “This new chapter builds on a journey that began over 18 years ago—one filled with learning, growth and the privilege of working alongside some of the brightest minds in our industry.”

During this journey, she has had the “opportunity to serve in roles across HR business partnering, employee relations, corporate social responsibility, talent acquisition, and DEI—both in India and the US—most recently leading Qualcomm’s global DEI function”.

Joshi began her career as assistant manager-human resources, Novartis in 1999. For over five years she essayed this HR business partner role spanning the employee life cycle, contributing to large-scale hiring and integration efforts, performance management and streamlining of HR operations.

October of 2004 saw her moving to Tata AIG, as manager-leadership development and talent management, Mediterranean, Middle East, South Asia. Two years later, she switched to Qualcomm. She started off in October 2007, as director-employee relations. Not only did she set up the employee relations (ER) function in India, but was responsible for building the regional ER strategy to create and sustain a positive work environment for employees. Eight years into this role she was elevated to HR business partner-India Business Group. The next 11 years were spent serving as a strategic HR business partner to Qualcomm India’s senior leadership team, guiding them on people, culture and talent initiatives, based out of Mumbai. During 2015-2019, she served as director-talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, working out of Hyderabad.

Another promotion in August 2019 put her in the chair of director-talent acquisition, Qualcomm Americas. After over two and a half years of working out of the Greater San Diego Area, Pooja Joshi was elevated to global director, diversity, equity and inclusion. By October 2023, she had become head of DEI, embedding equity into the full employee lifecycle at Qualcomm.

Now, as senior director, HRBP , this alumna of the Institute of Technology and Management and an MBA holder from the Southern New Hampshire University, will continue to be an asset to Qualcomm. Known for her calm state of mind and exceptional patience, Joshi will work with senior leaders to align people strategies with business goals—focusing on talent, team effectiveness and culture as drivers of performance. Her role will involve enabling growth, supporting leadership, and ensuring HR delivers measurable impact across the organization.

HRKatha wishes Pooja Joshi all the best in this endeavour!
