SAP has appointed Shweta Mohanty as senior vice president and global head of business partnering for corporate functions, marking a new phase in her nearly 11-year tenure as the enterprise software leader.
Mohanty steps into the global role after serving as head of people & culture for SAP India, where she led HR strategy, culture initiatives, and talent programmes for the country. In that position since April 2022, she was credited with strengthening employee engagement and aligning people practices to SAP’s business priorities in India.
Her career graph at SAP reflects steady progression through increasingly senior HR leadership roles. She joined SAP in November 2015 as director of human resources. From May 2017 to April 2020, she served as director – human resources/global HR business partner, overseeing talent strategy for a 5,000-strong organisation. She then moved to vice president – global HR business partner for Enterprise Cloud Services and SAP Labs Network between May 2020 and April 2022, where she defined talent strategy for key business units.
Before SAP, Mohanty spent almost 8 years at Microsoft India Development Centre. From January 2008 to August 2010, she was HR manager for Microsoft Research Lab India. She then managed the people transition for the Microsoft-Yahoo Alliance in India from April 2010 to March 2011. Her longest stint there was as senior HR manager & lead for IDC-Bangalore from March 2011 to November 2015, leading HR for the R&D organisation.
Mohanty began her career at Wipro Technologies, where she worked for 6 years. She started as a senior executive – strategic resourcing – from July 2001 to April 2003, handling recruitment for the south-2 region, and later became senior HR manager for Telecom Engineering Solutions from May 2003 to January 2008.
With over 25 years in HR, Mohanty brings deep expertise in global business partnering, organisational transformation, leadership development, and culture building to her new mandate.
