ICICI Life Insurance plans to recruit 20,000 women advisors across India by the end of FY27 under its Narishakti initiative, as the insurer looks to expand women’s participation in its agency business.
As of 30 September, 2026, the company had more than 78,000 women advisors, who accounted for 45 per cent of its agency business despite making up around 32 per cent of its total advisor workforce. In Bengaluru, Kerala and Mumbai, their contribution to agency business has crossed 50 per cent, according to the company.
The recruitment announcement coincides with the second anniversary of Narishakti, launched in 2024 to help women build careers as financial planners. It offers them the flexibility to work on their own schedule without sacrificing their family time, even while allowing them to gain recognition, become financial independent and proudly serve a noble cause by securing families nationwide.
The company said 47 per cent of its women advisors had been associated with it for more than 10 years as of 30 September, 2026. More than 500 women advisors had also qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), an international association for high-performing life insurance and financial services professionals.
Amish Banker, chief distribution officer, ICICI Life Insurance, said the initiative aims to equip women advisors with the skills and support needed to expand their role in the insurance sector and contribute to the government’s vision of insurance for all by 2047.
