Representatives of the Delhi Government will soon be meeting with a group of engineers in Kerala to discuss the use of robots to clean the sewers in Delhi. If this plan takes off successfully, manual scavenging can be totally eradicated. Adi Godrej, chairman emeritus, Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) earned a remuneration which was 114.18 times higher than the median pay of the Company’s employees, in 2018-19. The remuneration of Vivek Gambhir, MD and CEO, was 311.26 times more. The annual report of the Company revealed that Godrej earned a total remuneration of Rs 6.07 crore in FY19, which was 20 per cent less than last year. Deutsche Bank, the German multinational investment bank and financial services company is planning a revamp estimated to cost $5.6 billion, which will see more than one fifth of its workforce losing their jobs. Indian youth will now be provided country-specific training programmes by the Skills Development Ministry to help them get jobs outside India. The initiative has already managed to place 107 candidates in the pilot phase, in the Gulf countries and Japan. Another 48,000 prospective candidates have received training for emigration.
