While Apple continues to fine-tune plans to transform Siri into a more advanced AI-powered assistant, the company has already integrated generative AI deeply into its internal workflows. Employees across teams are now using in-house AI tools to support everyday tasks, signalling that Apple’s AI ambitions extend well beyond consumer-facing features.
In recent months, Apple rolled out an internal chatbot called Enchanté to its workforce. The tool helps employees brainstorm ideas, draft and refine content, conduct research, and analyse documents. Designed to operate within Apple’s tightly-controlled ecosystem, Enchanté works only with models approved by the company and runs on local devices or private servers, keeping data away from external platforms.
Employees can upload files, images, and documents from their Macs and query Apple’s internal knowledge base used by teams in engineering, design, marketing, and management. A key feature allows users to compare responses generated by different AI models side by side and provide feedback on accuracy and usefulness. This feedback loop helps Apple evaluate and improve its systems in real-world use.
Alongside Enchanté, Apple has introduced a second internal tool known as Enterprise Assistant. This system functions as a centralised source of corporate knowledge. Employees use it to get quick answers on company policies, benefits, compliance rules, and technical procedures. Like Enchanté, it includes mechanisms for flagging incorrect or unclear responses, helping Apple test how its models handle structured, rule-based information.
These internal deployments are closely linked to Apple’s broader AI strategy. The company is preparing a significant upgrade to Siri, aiming to turn it into a full-fledged chatbot capable of handling complex queries, generating content, summarising information, and working seamlessly across apps and devices. Upcoming operating system updates are expected to prioritise this chatbot integration, alongside performance improvements, as Apple works to close the gap with rival AI platforms.
