The sustained efforts of Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) to foster gender equity and nurture women’s leadership in roles traditionally underrepresented by women—particularly in manufacturing and sales—has given birth to the initiative aptly called Godrej Ki Shakti.
Admirably, women comprise a significant portion of the workforce at this emerging markets FMCG company. Thanks to GCPL’s continuous efforts, Godrej Ki Shakti successfully acts as a platform to foster dialogue, allyship, and systemic support for women’s advancement.
And the company upheld its commitment to inclusive and equitable workplaces through celebrations held across its manufacturing units in India.
Under Godrej Ki Shakti, GCPL hosted a series of events at its Baddi ( Himachal Pradesh), Malanpur (Madhya Pradesh), Pondicherry, and Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu) manufacturing sites, where the strength, resilience, and contributions of women across GCPL’s manufacturing ecosystem were put under the spotlight.
These regional celebrations across GCPL’s manufacturing units brought together unique expressions of allyship, empowerment, and community. At the Baddi plant in North India, the event opened with reflections from senior management on the theme of allyship and the company’s broader Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) agenda, complemented by team-building games and a women’s health and hygiene awareness session.
In Malanpur, part of the Central-West region, the event featured a leadership panel on ‘Allyship in Action’ and a TED-style talk by a woman employee sharing her growth journey at GCPL, along with recognitions for peer support and collaborative leadership.
Meanwhile, in the Southern region, at the Pondicherry, Karaikal, and Chengalpattu units, women employees performed a classical dance and a skit titled ‘Accelerate Action’, followed by a keynote from social impact leader T R Gayathiri on ‘Breaking Barriers & Building Inclusive Workplaces’. There was a prize distribution ceremony too to celebrate employee contributions.
At these events, women employees were recognised for their peer support and collaborative leadership, reinforcing the values of empathy, inclusion and teamwork. The day concluded with team-building activities that brought together employees from various functions, emphasising unity and the collective spirit that powers GCPL.
According to Sandhya Ramesh, general manager, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Godrej Consumer Products, “Through initiatives such as Godrej Ki Shakti, we are creating safe spaces, encouraging everyday leadership, and celebrating the collective strength of women and allies across our factories. We remain focused on breaking barriers and building greater opportunities for women in manufacturing roles.”
