Amazon is gearing up for the holiday rush with plans to hire 2.5 lakh new employees across the US. The positions include full-time, part-time, and seasonal roles in the company’s fulfillment centres and transportation network. Jobs will be posted weekly from October through December.
Seasonal positions at Amazon are among the most sought-after, often filling within minutes of posting. These roles cater to a range of job seekers—from those looking for short-term income during the holidays to individuals seeking a long-term career opportunity. Many of Amazon’s full-time leaders began their journeys as seasonal associates.
Regular full-time and part-time employees at Amazon earn an average of $23 per hour with benefits, while seasonal hires make an average of over $19 per hour. The company is also investing more than $1 billion this year to raise pay and reduce healthcare costs for its fulfillment and transportation workers. When benefits are factored in, average total compensation now exceeds $30 per hour.
Beyond pay, Amazon offers several programmes to support employee growth. One of the most popular is Career Choice, which pre-pays tuition for employees to pursue college degrees or professional certificates. Those who stay with the company also see steady wage increases—on average, employees with three years of tenure have experienced an 18 per cent pay rise.
Amazon says the upcoming hiring drive reflects both the company’s expanding operations and its commitment to creating meaningful career paths. The new hires will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and successful holiday season for millions of customers nationwide.
