Oman creates over 200,000 job and training opportunities in 4 years

Oman’s labour market has seen a significant expansion over the past four years, with more than 2,00,000 job and training opportunities generated through government-driven employment and Omanisation initiatives. These efforts have focused on strengthening workforce stability, improving employability, and supporting economic transitions across sectors.

Between 2021 and October 2025, the Ministry of Labour facilitated a wide range of opportunities for new entrants to the workforce. Public-sector hiring accounted for over 68,000 roles, while the private sector added more than 81,000 jobs for Omani nationals. Alongside direct employment, nearly 51,000 training opportunities were created, many of which were closely linked to eventual job placement.

Workforce mobility also emerged as a key priority. The private sector supported more than 1,61,000 job rotation placements during this period. These placements were designed to help jobseekers gain experience, adapt to different roles, and improve long-term employability.

Private-sector hiring received additional momentum through wage- support programmes. Over 1,300 establishments benefited from these schemes, resulting in the recruitment of more than 4,600 Omani citizens. The data also highlights steady progress in localising people-management roles, with over 4,100 Omanis employed as human resources and personnel managers in private companies by late 2025.

In the public sector, replacement hiring remained a focus to ensure continuity and renewal. Nearly 5,900 replacement opportunities were offered between 2021 and 2025, helping balance workforce stability with organisational needs.

Labour market resilience was further reinforced through the Job Security System. From 2020 to 2024, more than 27,000 individuals affected by job loss received support. Many returned to employment, while large-scale job announcements targeted previously-employed workers.

Overall, these developments reflect a sustained national push to expand employment, strengthen Omanisation outcomes, and build a more adaptable and resilient workforce.
