In an official communique, Hindustan Zinc said it is fast-tracking young talent into leadership, with 10 per cent of its leaders now below the age of 35. The update was shared on International Youth Day 2026.

The company claims that 62 per cent of its total workforce is under 35, with women making up 26.3 per cent of employees. According to the statement, this mix is helping reshape mining and metals into a more technology-driven, inclusive and future-ready sector.

Hindustan Zinc further stated that it has hired nearly 700 young professionals in the last two years. This includes 335 campus recruits in FY26 through its VLDP, GET, PGET and MT programmes. The company calls this group ‘EchoesOfTomorrow’, positioning them as contributors who are already building the future of industry.

Amarendu Prakash CEO, stated in the official release that the next phase of industrial growth will be led by a generation that challenges convention and treats technology and sustainability as core to business. He added that Hindustan Zinc aims to give young professionals meaningful responsibility and the scale to create impact.

The company claims its young workforce is leading high-tech operations such as remote blasting, tele-remote equipment, real-time monitoring, digital control rooms and operational intelligence platforms.

The communique also highlighted progressive policies, including flexible hours, night shifts, spouse hiring, year-long childcare sabbaticals, and mental health leave. It added that programmes for skilling, upskilling and talent mobility are being institutionalised to keep employees aligned with evolving industry needs.

Hindustan Zinc mentioned in the statement that as India moves toward a $5 trillion economy, core sectors must become aspirational career choices, and that it’s young, diverse workforce is key to that transition.
