Infosys, in partnership with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), has launched a Mental Health First-Aider Training Manual — a pioneering step to make mental health a shared responsibility across the organisation. Moving beyond HR-led wellness drives, the initiative empowers employees themselves to act as the “first line of care” for their peers by identifying early signs of stress, anxiety, burnout, or distress, responding empathetically, and guiding colleagues toward professional help when needed.
Infosys employees across India have already begun participating in the training, with several members of the HR team certified as Mental Health First Aiders. The programme aims to build a workplace culture where conversations about emotional well-being are normalised, stigma is reduced, and mental health support becomes proactive rather than reactive.
Developed in collaboration with NIMHANS experts, the manual covers modules on emotional literacy, self-care, stress management, and building psychologically safe workspaces. Infosys also plans to expand the initiative globally through a trainer-of-trainers model, enabling certified employees to coach others and embed mental wellness practices into daily work life.
For Infosys’ workforce, this represents a shift toward a more compassionate and inclusive environment — one where mental health is viewed with the same importance as physical well-being, and every employee plays a role in fostering psychological safety and collective resilience.
