Oracle has launched a fresh round of job cuts across its US operations, restructuring its workforce to free up capital for massive investments in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Affected personnel received abrupt electronic notifications stating their roles were eliminated due to shifting business needs, making the day of notice their last on the payroll.
While Oracle has not disclosed the total number of impacted workers, the sudden reductions directly follow mounting capital expenditure required to build out next-generation AI data centres.
Under the current exit policy, outgoing US employees are being offered four weeks of base pay, along with one additional week for every year of service based on their latest hire date. While individual notification letters omitted a payout ceiling, Oracle’s corporate policy caps total severance at 26 weeks.
For departing staff entering a tight tech job market, these terms offer noticeably less runway than those provided by industry rivals. Salesforce guarantees at least nine to 13 weeks of pay and adds three weeks per year of service, capping payouts at 30 weeks.
Microsoft’s recent package proved even more generous, providing 60 days of notice pay alongside tenure accruals that max out at 39 weeks.
This disparity underscores a stark reality in the enterprise tech sector. While companies pour billions into aggressive AI infrastructure expansion, traditional operational teams are left bearing the financial brunt of the pivot.
