In a strong move to uphold public trust in governance, the District Magistrate and Collector of South Tripura, Muhammad Sajad P, has issued a stern warning to government officials regarding their conduct with the public. The directive follows a growing number of complaints from citizens about rude behaviour and poor service delivery by officials in various government offices across the district.

The district administration noted that this trend undermines the integrity of public service and violates the standards expected from government employees. The Tripura State Public Services Guarantee Act, 2014, mandates timely, efficient, and respectful delivery of services to the public. Any lapse in these duties will now be met with serious consequences.

According to the order, the Tripura Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1988, requires all government employees to maintain high levels of discipline, professionalism, and courtesy in all their public dealings. Instances of rude behaviour, unnecessary delays, or denial of services without valid reasons will attract disciplinary action, including suspension or departmental proceedings.

The administration has also provided a platform for citizens to report misconduct. Complaints can be made through the district’s toll-free number 1077 or mobile number 6909358819. Heads of various offices have been instructed to brief their staff immediately on proper behaviour, adherence to duty hours, and the importance of service standards.

All government offices must now maintain a Grievance Register, which will be regularly monitored by the District Magistrate’s office. The administration has made it clear that any violation of conduct rules will not be taken lightly, and action will be initiated swiftly to ensure accountability and restore public confidence in government institutions.
