The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a package of salary and welfare measures for around 3.5 lakh outsourced employees working across state departments. The measures include a monthly salary increase of up to Rs 7,000, insurance cover of up to Rs 50 lakh and financial support for medical emergencies.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the measures at an event at Lok Bhavan on *Wednesday* where the government also launched the logo and website of the Uttar Pradesh Outsourcing Services Corporation (UPCOS). Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also present.
Under the new package, outsourced employees will be eligible for financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh for emergency medical treatment. The government has also announced support of up to Rs 10 lakh for air ambulance services.
A key part of the initiative is the creation of a centralised digital database of outsourced employees. The UPCOS portal will bring together information currently maintained separately by government departments and outsourcing agencies.
Employee records covering recruitment, deployment, attendance and salary payments will be maintained on a single platform. This will allow the government to track the number of outsourced workers engaged across departments and monitor their payments.
The digital system is also aimed at improving transparency in recruitment and workforce management. Officials will be able to access an employee’s service, deployment and payment details through the portal, reducing dependence on fragmented records maintained by multiple agencies.
For employees, the system is expected to provide easier access to their service-related information while giving the government greater oversight of outsourcing agencies and payment processes.
The package marks a broader attempt by the state government to formalise the management of its outsourced workforce while strengthening financial protection and administrative oversight for employees.
