V-Bazaar plans major hiring push as retail expansion accelerates in smaller towns

V-Bazaar is planning a significant workforce expansion as the fashion and lifestyle retailer accelerates store openings across smaller towns and emerging markets in India.

The company said it aims to increase its employee base by more than 2.5 times over the next four years, taking total workforce strength to around 10,000 employees from the current 3,600.

The hiring expansion is closely tied to the retailer’s long-term plan to scale its store network to more than 250 outlets. V-Bazaar currently operates 130 stores spread across over 100 cities and towns.

The company said a large share of recruitment will come from Tier III and Tier IV markets, where it continues to witness stable consumer demand and growing retail opportunities.

According to the company, each new store is expected to create nearly 35 to 40 direct jobs, while also generating indirect employment opportunities through logistics, local supply chains and service partnerships.

V-Bazaar is expanding through a cluster-based retail strategy, under which stores in nearby towns support each other operationally and strengthen distribution efficiency. The approach is aimed at improving supply chain management while enabling faster expansion into underserved markets.

Alongside frontline hiring, V-Bazaar is also recruiting management trainees from management and fashion institutes to strengthen its leadership pipeline and support future growth.

The expansion reflects a broader retail trend where companies are increasingly targeting smaller cities and towns as consumption demand rises beyond metro markets. Retailers are also placing greater emphasis on local hiring and workforce development as organised retail penetration deepens across semi-urban India.
