V2 Retail opens 24 stores in August, adds nearly 1,000 jobs across 11 states

The retailer expects its broader store-expansion programme to generate more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs annually

V2 Retail opened 24 new stores across 11 states in August 2026, its highest number of store launches in a single month, taking its total store count beyond 415 across more than 345 cities.

The expansion added nearly 200,000 sq ft of retail space to the company’s network and is expected to create around 960 direct jobs, based on the company’s estimate of about 40 employees per store.

The new stores were opened across a mix of Tier-II, Tier-III and Tier-IV markets, including Malkangiri in Odisha, Mungeli and Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara in Chhattisgarh and Banka in Bihar. The company also expanded its presence in larger markets, with new stores in Bengaluru and at RR Mall in Surat.

V2 Retail has set a target of opening 170-200 stores during the current fiscal, primarily across Tier-II and Tier-III markets. The company said the expansion is being funded through internal accruals and operational cash flows, without equity dilution.

The retailer expects its broader store expansion programme to generate more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs annually once the planned rollout is completed. It is also investing in supply-chain digitalisation to support the pace of expansion.

Commenting on the August expansion, Ram Chandra Agarwal, founder, V2 Retail, said, “We’ve opened stores fast on a single day before, but doing 24 across a full month, in towns as different as Bangalore and Malkangiri, is a different kind of test. It means every part of the system, from real estate to hiring to stock, is firing together across very different markets. That’s the real story here, not just the number.”

Akash Agarwal, chief executive officer, V2 Retail, added, “August was about proving we can sustain pace, not just spike it. Twenty-four stores in a month, close to a thousand jobs on the ground, and it’s all funded through our own cash flows. We’re on track for our 170 to 200 stores target this year, and small-town India is where most of that is happening.”

The company also marked the expansion through an AI-generated video series on its social-media channels as part of its “A Bigger V2, A Bigger India” campaign.
