Samsung is reportedly laying off employees across its US operations, according to a viral post by a former staff member. Though unconfirmed by the company, the news has set off alarm bells across online communities and raised questions about a broader global shakeup at the tech giant.
The post, shared on Reddit on 3 August, claimed that multiple employees across US teams were abruptly let go. It mentioned that long-serving team members were affected and alleged that some employees were left stranded during business trips after their company-issued cards were suddenly deactivated.
So far, Samsung has not responded to requests for confirmation. There has been no official comment on the scale or nature of the reported layoffs.
This development has sparked fresh speculation about whether the cuts are tied to an ongoing global restructuring effort. Back in 2024, reports had surfaced that Samsung was planning to reduce headcount in sales, marketing and administrative roles—especially in regions that had missed performance targets.
If the Reddit claims are verified, Samsung would become the latest in a growing list of tech companies downsizing in 2025. Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Meta have all trimmed their workforces this year, citing rising AI investments and a need to refocus business strategies.
While Samsung has traditionally been cautious with job cuts, the current economic and industry climate may be forcing a shift in that approach. More clarity is expected once the company issues an official statement.
