Swiggy has announced a new upskilling initiative for its delivery fleet through a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with upGrad. The collaboration aims to unlock access to higher education and industry-recognised certifications for lakhs of last-mile delivery executives across the country.

The programme aligns with broader national goals of widening access to job-relevant education and strengthening India’s skilled talent pool. It also signals a shift toward recognising delivery personnel as an integral part of the country’s formal skilling and mobility ecosystem

The programme has been designed specifically for frontline workers who often struggle to pursue formal education due to personal, financial, or time limitations. Through this partnership, delivery partners will be able to enroll in university-certified degree programmes, professional upskilling courses, and short-term skill-building modules at significantly reduced costs. Need-based scholarships will further support those who require financial assistance.

Courses span durations from two weeks to three years and are available entirely online. Delivery partners can explore and enroll through the Swiggy Partner app or via a dedicated portal created for the initiative.

Speaking on the initiative, Saurav Goyal, senior vice president- driver and delivery org, Swiggy, shared, “With this partnership with upGrad, we aim to enable growth of our delivery partners by providing them quality and relevant learning opportunities. We believe that by combining formal upskilling opportunities with emerging tech certifications and soft skills training, this initiative empowers Swiggy’s 6.9 lakh-strong frontline executives with access to credible, sustainable career pathways. We are creating a sustainable ladder of opportunity that strengthens our partners’ careers and fundamentally elevates India’s collective skilled advantage.”

Alongside academic learning, Swiggy’s workforce will also gain access to the Career Udaan Pack, a curated soft-skills curriculum developed by upGrad. The module focuses on communication, digital fluency, workplace behaviour, and confidence-building—skills that enhance employability and readiness for diverse roles within and beyond the gig economy.

With Swiggy’s delivery fleet now comprising over 6.9 lakh partners nationwide, the collaboration represents one of the largest attempts to bring structured skilling to India’s frontline workforce.
