The Arunachal Pradesh government has approved a 2 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) for state employees and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners. With the latest revision, the rate has increased from 58 per cent to 60 per cent of basic pay and pension.
The revised rates will come into effect retrospectively from 1 January, 2026. The decision was cleared during a state cabinet meeting and later announced through a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The enhanced allowance will benefit regular state government employees, All India Service officers serving under the Arunachal Pradesh government, and Central government officials currently on deputation in the state. Pensioners and family pensioners covered under the state will also receive the revised dearness relief.
The move follows the Centre’s recent decision to raise dearness allowance and relief for Central government employees and pensioners. State governments typically revise their rates in line with the central announcement.
According to official estimates, the revision is expected to benefit over 69,000 regular employees and more than 40,000 pensioners across the state. The additional financial burden on the state government is projected to be around Rs 100.54 crore annually.
The government will also release arrears for the period between January and April 2026. This is expected to involve an additional payout of Rs 33.51 crore.
The revised DA and DR amounts will start reflecting in salaries and pensions from May 2026 onward. The state government said the increase is aimed at providing financial support to employees and pensioners amid rising living costs.
