The UAE has introduced a nationwide platform aimed at connecting higher education students with structured, high-quality practical training opportunities across the labour market. The National Practical Training Platform, launched under the Nafis programme, is designed to help Emirati university students gain workplace experience that complements their academic learning.

According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), the digital system will serve as a unified national database where students can register for training opportunities and employers across government and private sectors can post openings. The Ministry indicated that the platform is intended to bridge the gap between theory and practice while strengthening the pipeline of skilled Emirati talent entering the workforce.

The initiative will also support broader Emiratisation goals by ensuring that students are equipped with relevant competencies and exposure before transitioning into full-time roles. They noted that the platform also aims to streamline collaboration between universities and industry sectors, enabling the development of training programmes that better reflect labour market needs.

The platform is expected to enhance governance, transparency and coordination among all stakeholders involved in student training. Additionally, all training opportunities listed on the platform will undergo quality assessment in accordance with the regulations governing practical training.

The Nafis Council emphasised that the initiative aligns with the UAE’s long-term strategy to build a sustainable national talent pool and strengthen the country’s human capital readiness. The move is seen as part of broader national objectives under We the UAE 2031 and the UAE Centennial 2071 vision, which prioritise developing a competitive, future-ready workforce.

Universities and training institutions across the country are set to participate in orientation and awareness sessions, while students can already access the platform through the Nafis website to explore available opportunities.
