The Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee (APJAC) Amaravati will hold an emergency meeting on 16 August to decide its next course of action over the pending demands of government employees.
The meeting of the JAC’s State Secretariat and Agitation Action Committee will be held at 10 a.m. at Revenue Bhavan in Vijayawada.
The meeting comes after the state government did not announce decisions on several issues raised by employee organisations.
Key demands include the appointment of a Pay Revision Commission Chairman or PRC, interim relief, release of pending dearness allowance (DA), payment of arrears and restoration of the additional quantum of pension.
Employees have also sought resolution of issues affecting village and ward secretariat staff, contract employees and outsourced workers.
The demands form part of 29 issues discussed at a Joint Staff Council meeting with employee associations on 22 July in the presence of the Cabinet Sub-Committee.
At its 2 August meeting, APJAC Amaravati had said it would convene an emergency meeting if the government did not clarify its position on the demands by 15 August. With no decisions announced so far, the JAC is now preparing to discuss the next phase of its agitation.
Representatives from the APJAC Amaravati State Secretariat, Women’s Wing, Agitation Committee, four zonal units and district-level committees are expected to participate in the 16 August meeting.
