The Odisha government is set to introduce artificial intelligence-powered cameras to strengthen monitoring of employee attendance and performance in state offices. The move is aimed at ensuring punctuality, improving efficiency, and fostering greater accountability among government staff.
The initiative will first be rolled out at Lok Seva Bhavan and Kharavela Bhavan, two key administrative hubs in the state capital. Once operational, the system will gradually be extended to all government offices across Odisha. The state IT department has been directed to provide full technical support for the transition.
The plan is part of a broader effort to raise work standards and address lapses in productivity. Employees who consistently underperform will be subject to regular or monthly performance reviews. Detailed records will be maintained, enabling the administration to consider premature retirement for persistent non-performers.
During a high-level meeting, the government also discussed stronger measures to curb corruption. Steps will be taken to improve vigilance systems, enhance transparency in services and procurement, and strengthen grievance-handling mechanisms.
A 15-day action plan has been drawn up to accelerate the execution of instructions from the chief minister’s office. This will include more robust departmental monitoring, streamlined feedback channels, and the creation of a consolidated chief minister’s dashboard to track progress on various initiatives and enable faster decision-making.
With AI surveillance, stricter performance checks, and intensified anti-corruption measures, Odisha aims to set a new benchmark for administrative discipline and efficiency in the public sector.
