Vedanta Power has onboarded 54 campus hires, with women accounting for 57 per cent of the new recruits, as the company expands its focus on building a young talent pipeline for the power sector.
The company said 56 per cent of its workforce is below the age of 35, with campus hiring forming a key part of its talent strategy. The latest recruits come from institutions across India and include professionals in engineering, technical functions, HR, communications, finance, commercial, ESG and CSR.
The company has also introduced AAROHAN – The Rise of Power, a four-day induction programme aimed at helping young professionals understand the business, develop functional capabilities and gain exposure to power-generation operations.
The programme included leadership interactions, business and functional sessions and a plant visit, giving new hires exposure to large-scale power-generation processes and the functions supporting them.
Speaking about the programme, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, chief executive officer, Vedanta Power, said, “At Vedanta, building capacity and building capability go hand in hand. Our young professionals will be an important part of that journey. We want to give them exposure to the business, access to experienced leaders and the opportunity to take ownership early, so they can grow into the power leaders who will shape the next chapter of India’s power sector.”
The induction programme brought together employees from different functions, with the company using cross-functional exposure to help young recruits understand how various teams contribute to power-generation operations.
The initiative comes as the power sector faces changing energy requirements and increasing adoption of technology, creating demand for professionals with technical expertise, business understanding and the ability to adapt to evolving operational needs.
Vedanta Power said its talent development approach will continue to combine campus hiring, structured learning, leadership interaction and early exposure to operational responsibilities as it builds its workforce for the evolving energy sector.
