Apraava Energy, an Indian integrated energy solutions company, has elevated Deepa Sebastian as its new chief human resources officer (CHRO). She takes over from Gopinath Govindan, who retires after a remarkable 17-year contribution to shaping the company’s human resources landscape.

Sebastian brings over 20 years of HR experience, including more than 16 years with Apraava. Most recently, she served as senior vice president–HR, leading transformative initiatives in diversity, equity and inclusion, talent management, and employee engagement. Her promotion is proof that the company believes in nurturing internal talent and reinforcing a future-ready, inclusive workforce.

In her expanded role, Sebastian will oversee human resources, corporate communications, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Prior to Apraava, Sebastian has also worked with other companies such as I-flex Processing Solutions as its assistant manager-human resources. An alumnus of the London School of Economics, she has also served as an assessor for the CII National HR Excellence Awards.

“I’m proud to see Deepa grow within Apraava and step into this new leadership role to carry that legacy forward. With her vision and direction, I’m confident that Apraava will reach new heights and continue to strengthen its position as an employer of choice,” said Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, managing director, Apraava Energy. He also thanked Govindan for his invaluable contributions.

Sebastian is “honoured to take on this role at such a significant juncture in Apraava’s growth journey” and looks forward to “building on the strong foundation, and to shaping a workplace culture of inclusion, and purpose to enable each of us to thrive and contribute meaningfully to India’s energy transition.”

Her appointment is part of Apraava’s evolving strategy to build a strong leadership bench and foster a high-performance culture grounded in purpose and inclusion.
