HDFC ERGO General Insurance has promoted Pintu Kr. Mahato to deputy vice president–human resources, marking a significant milestone in his HR-leadership journey with the organisation. Mahato announced the development through a LinkedIn post, where he reflected on his growth journey at HDFC ERGO and acknowledged the support of leaders and colleagues during his tenure.
He has been associated with HDFC ERGO for over three years, progressing through multiple HR- leadership roles.
Prior to this elevation, he served as assistant vice president–human resources, where he led a four-member team driving the HR agenda for nearly 800 employees across six business units. His responsibilities included workforce planning, talent acquisition, succession planning, performance- management systems, policy benchmarking and manager capability development.
Earlier, as senior manager – human resources, Mahato handled HR business partnering and talent acquisition for technology, underwriting, product and crop businesses. He worked closely with business leaders on people strategies aimed at improving workforce engagement and productivity.
Before joining HDFC ERGO, Mahato spent over three years with IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corporation across various HR leadership roles. There, he managed talent acquisition, HR operations, employee relations, compliance, stakeholder management and performance-assessment initiatives. He also partnered with leadership teams on policy implementation and HR- transformation efforts.
His earlier professional journey included roles at ABP Group, Zee Media Corporation and McNally Bharat Engineering Company, where he built expertise across recruitment, HR operations, employee lifecycle management and industrial relations.
Mahato is backed by over a decade of experience in talent acquisition, HR business partnering and people operations. His promotion reflects HDFC ERGO’s continued emphasis on strengthening internal leadership pipelines and aligning HR capability with business growth.
He holds a PG Diploma in HR Management and Industrial Relations from National Institute of Personnel Management, Kolkata and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Calcutta.
