    5 AM meetings spark work-life balance debate in corporate India

    A Gurugram-based employee has sparked a heated discussion online after sharing frustration over being scheduled for a client meeting at 5 am. The post, shared on Reddit, highlighted the growing concerns around work-life balance in multinational companies.

    The employee explained that such meetings force them to wake up as early as 4:30 am, only to cater to clients based in the US who operate during their normal working hours. The screenshot of the meeting invite quickly went viral, striking a chord with professionals who have faced similar situations.

    Reactions poured in, with many arguing that such timings are an unavoidable reality of working with global teams. Some users dismissed the complaint, suggesting that adapting to different time zones is simply part of corporate life.

    However, others strongly disagreed, pointing fingers at poor managerial practices in India. Several Redditors argued that meetings with international clients are usually scheduled to suit overlapping working hours, such as evenings in India and mornings in the US. According to them, scheduling calls at dawn is less about necessity and more about unrealistic expectations set by managers.

    The incident has reignited discussions about the fine line between flexibility and exploitation in the workplace. While global connectivity has opened opportunities for collaboration, it has also blurred boundaries between personal time and professional demands.

    For many employees, the question remains: should they continue sacrificing health and rest for client convenience, or should companies take stronger measures to safeguard employee well-being? The viral post has ensured that this debate remains alive in India’s corporate corridors.
