Samsung expands inclusion efforts with new $10,000 adoption benefit for employees

The adoption benefit intends to reduce financial barriers that often accompany the adoption process

Samsung Electronics is strengthening its family-support initiatives with the introduction of a new adoption benefit for employees. The new policy expands Samsung’s suite of family-building and inclusive benefits, reflecting the organisation’s focus on supporting a diverse workforce.

Beginning January, the company will offer a one-time payout of $10,000 to any employee who adopts a child, regardless of their benefits plan tier.

The move is said to be driven by the company’s commitment to creating a workplace where different family structures are recognised and supported. Samsung’s people team highlighted that employees increasingly expect employers to accommodate a broader range of life choices, including non-biological paths to parenthood. The adoption benefit intends to reduce financial barriers that often accompany the adoption process while giving employees more autonomy over how they grow their families.

The new policy aligns with Samsung’s broader diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy. In recent years, the company has introduced several measures to reinforce equity in access to benefits and to ensure all employees receive equal support. These include gender affirmation coverage, equal parental leave for all genders, and investment options such as a Sharia-compliant fund within the company’s group retirement savings plan.

Samsung noted that employee demographics and expectations have evolved significantly. With more individuals and couples exploring different models of family building, the company identified adoption support as a gap within its benefits portfolio. The addition of this benefit aims to close that gap and reinforce Samsung’s position as an employer committed to inclusion, family well-being, and meaningful workplace support.

The new adoption benefit is expected to be a key differentiator in Samsung’s efforts to enhance overall employee experience and attract diverse talent across its global workforce.
