Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) increased the annual remuneration of Chief Executive Officer K Krithivasan by 6.3 per cent in FY26, even as the Indian multinational IT services company recorded a sharp reduction in its employee base during the same period. The latest details, disclosed in the company’s annual report, have drawn attention amid a broader slowdown in hiring across the technology sector.
Krithivasan’s total compensation for FY26 stood at Rs 28.1 crore, compared to Rs 26.52 crore in the previous financial year. The increase came during a period when IT companies have been recalibrating workforce strategies due to changing client spending patterns, greater focus on automation and evolving technology demands.
At the same time, TCS witnessed a decline in its overall employee strength. The company ended FY26 with a workforce of 5.84 lakh employees, compared to 6.07 lakh a year earlier. This reflects a net reduction of 23,460 employees over the course of the financial year.
According to the annual report, Krithivasan’s compensation was equivalent to 332.8 times the median salary of TCS employees. His package included multiple components. Of the total amount, Rs 1.67 crore came from salary, Rs 1.43 crore from benefits, allowances and perquisites, while Rs 25 crore was paid as commission.
The company stated that executive compensation revisions followed broader salary revision trends and market-linked pay practices. It also noted that variable pay structures remained connected to company performance, employee- utilisation levels and individual performance metrics.
Meanwhile, employee salary hikes varied across roles and locations. As per TCS, compensation increases generally ranged between 5 and 8 per cent after considering annual revisions, promotions and role-based adjustments, while top performers received higher increments.
