A former employee of Wipro has alleged religious harassment, workplace discrimination and forced resignation, prompting a police complaint and drawing attention to the importance of effective grievance-handling mechanisms in organisations.

The allegations were made during a press conference in Pune, where the former employee claimed she experienced harassment while working at the company’s Hinjawadi office. Following the allegations, a complaint was reportedly filed with the Hinjawadi Police Station, and a legal notice seeking compensation has been served on the company.

According to the complaint, the former employee alleged that a colleague repeatedly pressured her to change her religion and interfered in her personal life. She further claimed that despite raising concerns with senior officials, no meaningful action was taken to address the issue.

The woman has also alleged that she was pressured to resign during a team meeting in August 2025 and was not given adequate opportunity to present her side before her resignation was accepted. Additionally, she claims that a complaint was subsequently filed against her before the company’s internal ombuds mechanism.

The allegations have not been proven, and authorities have reportedly begun investigating the matter. Wipro has not publicly responded to the specific claims at the time of reporting.

The case highlights the critical importance of maintaining robust workplace grievance systems, particularly when complaints involve allegations related to religion, discrimination or employee well-being. The matter also underscores the need for employers to foster inclusive workplaces where employees feel safe raising concerns without fear of retaliation.

As the investigation proceeds, the case serves as a reminder that allegations involving discrimination or harassment require careful handling, transparent processes and a strong commitment to workplace fairness from both management and HR teams.
