JPMorgan Chase is set to hire around 1,000 technology professionals for its global capability centres (GCCs) in India, even as the bank says artificial intelligence (AI) has reduced staffing needs by 30–40 per cent in some parts of its business.
According to reports, the hiring will focus on technology roles in cloud architecture, cybersecurity and AI data pipelines. Candidates will undergo HackerRank-based assessments evaluating coding skills, algorithms, data structures and system architecture expertise.
The recruitment drive is aimed at strengthening the bank’s global technology and digital- transformation initiatives while expanding its India GCC operations.
JPMorgan currently employs around 55,000 people across its India GCCs, with major hubs in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The expansion also aligns with the bank’s long-term investment in the country, including plans to build Asia’s largest 2-million-square-feet GCC campus in Mumbai by 2029, which is expected to house around 30,000 technology and operations professionals.
The hiring plans come shortly after CEO Jamie Dimon said AI has reduced staffing requirements by 30 to 40 per cent in certain business functions by improving productivity. However, he noted that AI should not be viewed as a lasting competitive advantage.
The move reflects a broader trend among global enterprises, which continue to invest in specialised engineering talent even as AI automates routine tasks. Demand remains strong for professionals with expertise in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure, particularly within India’s rapidly-growing GCC ecosystem.
