A Maharashtra employee has claimed that a former employer sent a legal notice demanding Rs 1.67 lakh nearly a month after the employee resigned.
According to the employee’s post on Reddit, the demand includes Rs 24,000 for an alleged 30-day notice period, Rs 18,549 towards recruitment or replacement costs, Rs 1 lakh for alleged business losses and Rs 25,000 in legal fees.
The employee said the offer or letter of intent did not mention a 30-day notice period and claimed that company assets were collected by the managing director after the resignation. The former employer has allegedly accused the employee of unauthorised cessation, failure to serve the notice period and incomplete handover.
The employee also claimed that around 15 days’ salary for August remains unpaid despite repeated follow-ups.
The post drew responses from other Reddit users. The commenters also advised the employee to respond to the legal notice through a lawyer and seek payment of outstanding salary.
In a recent move, the government announced that the Employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will receive a higher Dearness Allowance (DA) after the state government approved a 5 per cent increase, taking the allowance from 53 per cent to 58 per cent of basic pay.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of employees working across the Corporation’s extensive transport network.
